Narrative
To fulfill another Japanese major requirement we needed to enroll in a secondary culture course other than Japanese. My choice was Maya civilization. This class provided so much information regarding ancient Mesoamerica that I am filled with many interesting facts during that period. The may are a fantastical civilization to explore. We learned some basic reading of Maya hieroglyphs along with reading codices from a thousand years ago. I learned of Mexico's legacy of the Aztecs but before them the Maya. We analyzed the culture today and compared them to the past. We explored social issues and the fact that Maya culture might one day disappear unless the younger generation finds the true value in their ancestry and heritage.
