Statement of Purpose
Ever since I was kid, I have always had a fascination with everything Japanese. Over the years, in one sense, I could definitely say I have a connection with the traditions and ideals of Japanese culture. As a child I had access to many Japanese movies and anime. This was the start of a curious fascination that eventually inspired me to learn the Japanese language and culture at CSU Monterey Bay.
My path started later than most students but the inspiration was just as strong to learn something new and that process was much more important to me then ever before. With a refreshed attitude towards learning and having many global experiences, from being in the Navy to meeting many people that were in Language studies from around the world, I began my journey to my bachelors degree in Japanese language and culture.
After researching to find a Japanese program near my home, it was CSUMB that would provide a great learning environment with a wonderful faculty to facilitate as well. The learning outcomes and expectations from the Japanese program have deeply affected my learning and critical thinking from many perspectives. This will help continue my understanding in a diverse global society while learning new lifelong tools to help my success in the future.
